The 374-metre long ship is the biggest vessel that has ever docked at Cyprus’ southern coastal city and belongs to SAIPEM, a subsidiary of energy company ENI E&P.
Cyprus is the first European country Castorone docked at for refuelling purposes, while was preparing to undertake subsea operations in Egypt.
More than 100 tons of cargo arrived in Cyprus by air and are loaded onto the ship, along with 3,000 pipes. 
A representative of the company overseeing the operation expressed his confidence that the Castorone will receive the best possible services whilst in Cyprus.
An official welcoming ceremony held at Limassol port on Tuesday, May 6, in the presence of Marios Demetriades, Minister of Communication and Works, and Yiorgos Lakkotrypis, Minister of Energy, Commerce, Tourism, and Industry.
